Laurence has been a tremendous help to me.
I don’t like formal exercise but my apartment has a gym and I thought it prudent to find out how to use it! I’m 74 overweight and unfit.
Much to my surprise I have enjoyed the sessions I have had with Laurence . He taught me how to use the machines and I have every intention of using the gym on a frequent basis.

Summer 2024 workouts with LH a fit 50ish lady
“Following the onset of osteoarthritis in my hip joint, I had lost my confidence in exercise for fear of further injury and pain. Laurence helped me regain my confidence by gently taking me through exercises to build strength around the joint and improve flexibility. He always has a positive attitude and a vast range of exercises to suit my capabilities on any given day, and has always left me feeling energised after each session. He is respectful of my personal preferences regarding the way I like to exercise, and professional throughout”

I am an 84 year old widower who has had 3 major operations over the past 4 years Laurence is a professional Personal Trainer with the skills and experience in treating older patients at home. He has made a significant improvement in my mobility encouraging a positive mental outlook.

Progress and Courage SM age 61
I just can’t speak highly enough of Laurence as a personal trainer. He’s helped me make real progress during the 18 months I’ve been with him. It took me ages to summon up courage to start, though – I felt too embarrassed about being unfit and out of shape. I’d say to anyone with similar concerns that Laurence puts you at ease from the start and makes you feel much more positive. He’s really upbeat and makes sessions fun so the time flies by. Laurence always wants to know how I am at the start of each lesson and adapts things to help with whatever I need – so eg if my back is bothering me he’ll include exercises which help. He’s full of encouragement to get me ‘doing my best’ but never pushes me beyond what I’m comfortable with. I always look forward to training sessions which speaks volumes about how good Laurence is if he can make someone like me enjoy exercise!

Laurence has been doing exercises with my 94 and 98 year old parents for over 6 months, the exercises are tailored to their capabilities and are varied to focus on different muscles using a range of equipment that allows chair based exercises which my Mum especially enjoys.
Laurence sends me short video clips of the exercise session. It’s good to see how Mum and Dad are doing in the exercise sessions. -
After spending a few years not exercising due to looking after my terminally ill sister and Dad I wanted to return to fitness with the help of someone who knows how to gradually build up my strength and stamina. Regular weekly sessions with Laurence has helped to build my confidence, strength, and fitness to help me get back on the road to being me again. He always makes it fun and we have a laugh – good for the stomach muscles and the soul ! Thanks Laurence

Following a total knee replacement at 79 years old, and on the recommendation of friends with whom Laurence has worked, I asked Laurence for help in my rehabilitation. He has proved an excellent trainer – enthusiastic, but sensitive to the needs and condition of his client, with very good judgement of what exercises are needed and how to fit them to his client’s condition and progress. After just a few weekly sessions I have become generally much fitter and my operated leg much stronger and more flexible. Without Laurence’s advice and supportive encouragement I could not have achieved that on my own. Whilst I still have a way to go in regaining general fitness and knee strength and flexibility, I have every confidence that Laurence will ensure that I attain these goals. I recommend him unreservedly.

What a find Laurence Sugarman is! My husband is 91 and has had a year from hell and back. He’d just recovered from one trauma when another one hit. But nothing deters the Sugarman. Dealing with panic attacks and building strength in a 91yo are all in a few hours work for this Personal Trainer. The regular, concentrated and enjoyable mini work-outs are personalized to my husband’s needs and capabilities – and its oh so rewarding to see the progress he makes each week. Judith
